[Texfish]

While fishing offshore with Reeltime yesterday we were headed to towards a rig in the bluewater and we noticed a boat at the rig. As we got closer to the rig the boat that was there got up on plane and headed away from the rig. While trolling around the rig I noticed a few red snapper floating on the surface.

We make a complete troll an I mentioned it to Reeltime we should go and vent to snapper, so we headed over to the snapper but they were already dead.

We began to troll away from the rig and we hooked up with a screamer king about 20-25 lbs.

It was a slow day for fishing with all running around all the thunderstorms.

I guess it was good karma for trying to vent the snapper.

Porpoise will take care of the floaters... A lot of people vent the wrong way & cause more damage to the fish.

Good going or thought, but yeppir, once bloated and tossed, they usually die fairly quick unless Flipper is scarfing em up (even when vented). It is sad that Commercials can keep em at 13" (I believe) and when the Rec Season was open, we gotta toss em back-I'm sure the 15 or so we tossed back in June were eaten by Flipper anyway (Flipper was dang happy under my boat), so what "conserving" was I doing? ANSWER: NONE dangit because Flipper ate em. I wish the NMFS and Gulf Council were 14-15" Snapper and then maybe they'd understand while Flipper chomped their azzes.
