No fishing for 6 months

Thursday night I tore my right achilles tendon sparring in Taekwondo. Having Surgery on Tuesday morning to re-attach it and will be in a cast for 6-8 weeks. No driving for at least that long which means someone is going to have to drive me around for me to be able to work. That is going to suck but I can't make money if I am not working! Tina will graduate in December and hopefully start working shortly thereafter but I have to make money until then.
He also said no boating, fishing etc. for 6 months. I have been going crazy for the last few months because I have only been getting out every 2-4 weeks. How am I going to go 6 months? I am going stir crazy just sitting around since Friday. I have watched a whole lot of Olympics. I am really glad they are on right now!
I guess it is time to stop doing all those things that I thought I could still do, and let my body fall apart naturally instead of helping it along.

Dude that sucks...I have no idea about achillies tendons but I do know doctors air on the side of caution when telling you what you can and can't do. Heck, they had me on a walker for a month and a cane for another after that with my hips...I lost both 2 weeks into it. Not saying for you to not listen, but just saying after the cast...you might be better off than they make out!

I heard about it the day it happened. Do what the Dr. says while in the cast. It's a very tough injury to have. You can always get your neighbor to drive you down to my white trash bank spot to fish. I'll even provide the lawn chair!

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. My Mother in law just had to have the same operation and is back on her feet. Be careful and follow the doctor's orders to the letter. Re injury can be really severe.
