I had it on my android and it wasn't worth it. Half of the time it would tell me I was in friendswood. I would have to delete and reinstall multiple times and reset my phone to get it to work. If you have an iPhone, try fly to maps. I think it's less than 3$ and works really well. Of course it doesn't have wind and tide like navionics does (as far as I know, I haven't tinkered with it that much). But it works very well at telling me where I am and tracking my paths. I don't have any complaints about it so far.

I bought the coastal water and lakes for my iPhone. Works better than my Garmin 541s

How far does it cover? Do you need to have internet (3G) connectivity etc?

You need data service to download a map. When you download a map it downloads from the Internet: markers, depths etc.. Once u download a map in the app it stays that way. The app will always give your GPS location even without service.

It's a good app. I think it's odd that the phone app is $10-$20. and almost identical Navionics map system for my Lowrance was $190. WTF??

I have it in my iPad and it's a decent app. It would only be a great app if I took my iPad in the boat with me and could record my tracks or if I figured out how to overlay my tracks on it fom google earth or the like (may not be possible).

A couple of screen shots to show general level of detail.

You can also overlay google earth to show shoreline landmarks. I don't know if you can overlay tracks or information from your own google earth file.

You can get tide charts from the closest tide monitor. I don't know if these are location adjusted to the specific spot or if they are the tide time at the tide monitor.

I don't know if it was worth the money but it beats playing angry birds when I have an itching to go coastal and can't leave my desk.
