My buddy took the boat out yesterday(first time by himself) with his FIL, and when he was pulling it out of the water, somehow the strap broke and it slid back off the trailer. The front end tilted way up and water came over the back end really quickly and sucked it under. They got it back out of the water with the help of a bunch of guys at the ramp. He took it to the house and I had him wash it down good, pull the plugs and turn it over to blow most of the water out of the engine, then put extra oil in the gas and try to crank it. they couldn't get it to crank, so I had him put oil in thru the plug holes, WD40 in the carb and turn it over for a while to coat everything really well. Then he emptied a can of WD40 on the outside of the engine.
He said he GPS looks like it got water in it too.
Scott is going to take it to Acie's Today to see if it is worth trying to do anything to it.
I have been talking about getting another boat for a while, and this may speed up the process. I have a buddy that is about to sell his older 19' Carolina skiff w/115 yami really cheap, and I have been thinking about it, but I can't really afford the storage. If I can find somewhere really cheap to store it, I may be able to talk Tina into it, but it is going to be a hard sell!
If anyone has any ideas on what to do to the motor or where I may be able to store a boat really cheaply, please let me know.
I may become a yak fisherman otherwise, and I really would hate to go that route. I am WAY too lazy to paddle around that much.
I spoke to Acie and he is going to try to squeeze it in today and get it cleaned out and salvaged.......I'll let you know what happens.
I did catch a ladyfish off a pier last night (on a corky original) while doing some vietnamese fishing with Tina's uncles. It was the only fish we saw caught. I will be hitting the surf later in the week and found a cove that looks promising.
