How'd you know? I coulda used some help-had 7 folks down-4 semi-adults and 3 2 y.o.-it was diapers everywhere!!

Has galveston tested the bays to make sure the bays are not infected also? You have water run off from watering your grass & washing your cars & boats that empty into the bays? I HOPE they are checking the bays as well!!!

Any idea or updates on the source of this? BTW, I never drank the water without it being boiled, well maybe once, then I knew better.

Officials Issue Boil Water Notice for City of Galveston

Bottled or Boiled Water Necessary for all Residents and Businesses until
Further Notice



GALVESTON, TX (July 10, 2012) - A boil water notice has been issued for all
residents and businesses located on Galveston Island, including those
located in the City of Jamaica Beach and on Pelican Island.



The city was notified yesterday that a drinking water sample taken during
routine sampling tested positive for Escherichia coli (E. coli) bacteria.
Following Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) mandated
procedures, the city conducted a resampling in that area yesterday. Of the
three subsequent samples taken, one tested positive for indicator bacteria;
not E. coli. The city is required to issue a boil water notice by State law
to ensure the public's health and welfare.



As a precaution, all residents and businesses will need to use bottled water
for human consumption or boil water prior to consumption until further
notice. Pets or animals should not be allowed to drink this water.



The City of Galveston will continue to test water samples over the next 24
hours and lift the boil water notice once the samples meet all State and
Federal Standards for potable drinking water. The City will issue a formal
announcement when the boil water notice has been rescinded.



The City of Galveston tests drinking water samples from 32 sites twice a
month. It is highly irregular for samples to fail and even more rare for a
sample to test positive for E. coli bacteria. For more information please
