  • What's a good durable $50 spinning rod?

Getting excited for this weekend and I'm thinking it's time to upgrade my ratty wally world spinning rod. I have a decent reel on it. What's a good rod in the $50 range that'll last? 2 piece would be awesome as it's nice to be able to fit it in the trunk of my civic, but I can deal with a 1 piece if need be. This will be the pole I grab first and use 80% of the time. Thanks in advance.

I do not fish 2 piece rods.

I personally love my Shimano Stradic FH 2500 spinning real. Great all around reel.

I've got and old Quantum 2 piece spinning rod (weighs a ton) that's my trunk rod. I'd like to pick up something lighter, but I hardly ever see 2 piece rods anymore.

I have the exact same reel, but I am looking to put it on a rod. I agree on the no 2 piece. What do you have with your reel? If you had to replace it, would you buy the same/similar thing?

I have Castaway Rods with my Stradic's.

I have 12-15 Stradics that range in various sizes from 1000 series to 8000 series.

About to go to FTU and purchase a Saragusa to replace the missing 8000 that now resides in Davy Jones' locker. Have to upgrade at least 1 reel to use tuna poppers on

I personally love the Berkley lightning rods. Not the new black ones but the older black and red ones. Sensitive tip and light as a feather. It is an.awesome trout rod and imparts great action on arties. Doesn't have a good backbone so I miss more reds than I wish to know but a great all around rod. usually they are 35 plus tax at academy.

I have only had one spinning rod under 50 dollars so I can't tell you of a good one... I can tell you the ALL Star I had snapped on the first fish. Jhuas spinning rods do really well for trout though, his hookup ratio on specs is pretty impressive.

Thanks WEA. A friend of mine snapped the tip of the rod on my stradic 2500, and my grandfather left me a Schimano Symetre 4000 FH. I need a pole for each, so I will definitely check out the Castaway rods you suggested. These are my alternate rod/reels, so I wasn't looking for anything fancy.

bump for the Castaways. Cheap and you can return them to Academy when they break.

Thanks everyone, I ended up picking up a 7ft Castaway from academy. The only Jhua endorsed Berkley there had a busted tip. I'll try it out this weekend.

Good to know. Can you also return All Stars?
