  • Has this happened to you????

I can't believe I forgot to tell this in my weekend report!

Running by the houses at the pass in that deep water and saw something explode some bait. I stopped the boat and wanted to throw a top at it just to see. I have no sides on the boat and a raised console. Looking for the fish and not my feet I grabbed my rod and took a step down...and off the boat! Next thing I look up and see the bottom on the cat! Got back in and figured I scared away the ALL the fish...then I hear a group laughing behind me...I had to laugh myself!

Not the first time I've done this and certainly won't be the last either. So who has fallen in recently or done something just plain stupid lately? I know we got plenty of stupid on this board! Let's hear it...

Oh gosh, I hate to admit it, but I did just that at Karankawa cut about a month ago. Never happened before, first thought was WTH? Second thought was, 'dont lose your eye glasses'. After that all I could do was laugh at myself, and find a way back onto the boat. Silly feeling walking off ones boat, dang silly feeling. Kept my hands on the rod too, so only thing was dry off and keep on fishing.

I was headed through the Freeport jetties in my buddies boat fighting about a 5 or 6 foot rolling swell. I decided it would be fun to jump at the top of one to see how much air I could get. I was about 10 feet out of the boat when I looked down. Came crashing down on the console and bruised the crap out of my ribs and knocked the breath out of myself. My buddy tells that story to this day and this was 15 years ago.

Thats the fastest way I know to get that "stupid feeling"... And your buddy is usually in the boat going "what just happened"... they know damn well what just happened!

Fell out if a 10' flat bottom trying to stand up and turn around. I fell into about 5 inches of water flat on my back. My cousin said you would have thought I was about to fall into shark-infested waters the way I was swinging my arms to stop myself from falling in. 6 other boats around and he's the only one that saw it.

Well, it didn't happen on the water but it reminded me of an incident I had 6 or 7 years ago. I was travelling to Harlingen for a tennis tournament. At the time I didn't drive so my dad was driving while I slept. We were running late and I didn't really know it. My dad was doing 40 in the parking lot in order to get me to the tournament desk before I got DQ'd. He said, "we are here" and I got up, opened the door and walked out of the car...while he was doing 40 in the parking lot. My leg gained traction of the ground and I went tumbling in the parking lot. Yeah...never felt as dumb as I did in my life.

I was in a 14' skiff out on Lums Pond in Delaware, pretty buzzed-up. We needed to go to the other side
to meet up with the rest of our party, and the other Keg on ice. We got to the other side ok, but when
I stood up to walk out, the other guy was getting out and tipped to Port, well there I went, drink in hand,
flat on my back in two feet of water, with that drink straight up and dry. My friend thought I was nuts,
trying to save that drink, and not try to catch myself. I told him that that was the last of my Jim Beam,
and I'd have to drink beer the rest of the day...

So yeah, at least once have some of us fallen out of something we were trying to stay in.......lol
