Bent rods are the same as yelling and waving at someone that "Here the fish are-come on in, potlicker".
I stick my rod underwater every time a boat drives by.

When buzzards are around I string every fish underwater, and when I grab a fish around unwanted company I never pick it up.

When boats are driving past and I have a fish in my hand and I'm stringing him, releasing him, or whatever, I'll make fake casting motions with my off hand to throw the buzzards off.

Those are just a few tricks.

          Here's a question for you.

What do y'all think is a respectable distance for a boat to run by you? What about a group of fishermen...how close can they get before they cross the line?

They never understood what etiquette means and never will-ya can't fix stupid, so best is try to stay away from stupid even at the cost of moving to another spot and leaving fish. Too bad killing stupid folks aint legal; however, the bays would be loaded with bloated stinkin bodies and you'd be snaggin a democrat on almost every cast. Think Democrat = Entiltlement-you know, the "Obama Way Through Life".

The problem is, unless them buzzards are breaking the law, that's a free bay out there. There are no potlicker rules and anyone can come fish right next to you. The law is on the buzzard's side, especially since Obama got elected.

Oh I don't mind a few buzzards - there always have been a few in our society. But come Memorial Day, them buzzards will be out in full force. You ain't seen nothing yet! You're mad already? It's like clockwork every year when the buzzards go to the beach.

I wish I had a trained pelican to poopoo on them.

I agree somewhat with ya Bruce!

But Bruce, these two culprits were certainly living under the "Entiltlement Umbrella". Democrats in my book!!! Maybe Socialistic Democrats, but that probably is redundant.

Smacker 200 yards is not potlicking IMHO. You never know, they could have been there the day before and caught some good fish in shallow from where your yaks were located. If they anchored 200 yards from you and waded in behind you I don't see a problem with that. We have to ask ourselves exactly how much shoreline is an angler entitled to. If a group of four split up and go 2-300 yards in each direction you are taking up over a 1/4 mile of shoreline. As long as they don't drive in and anchor right on top of me or wade so close our lines are crossing when we cast I try not to let it bother me. Right or wrong, as Swells mentioned there are no laws pertaining to this and some people are going to be nicer than others. Just part of fishing a crowded bay system, I wouldn't sweat it.

So, it's wrong to watch other people catch fish? LOL! Some folks have some strange ideas.

Heck, in La. if you're catching fish, you INVITE other boats over. You can be pretty sure there that people will creep up slowly and ask where you want them, instead of running right through the fish. I tried that here and people thought I was CRAZY. I guess here there's just not enough to go around.
