  • Water skiers on the Bayou

Saturday saw my first water skiers and boarders while fishing. I know they are rude and have no qualm about coming by you 15ft or less from you. Had 2 boats that were the large cruiser type boats come right almost on top of me at a speed that made some large wakes. That came over my into my boat. They were just a laughing as they went by. Wished I had a torpedo I would have made a new reef for chocolate bayou LOL. Anyone else have this happen

Same problem in the d-canal. Water temps warming and they are gonna be there. Move on out in the bay cause you're not going to stop them.

Water skiiers are fickle creatures. The need a wide berth for their unpredictability. Apparently, they hate the word "weekday."

If you must fish the bayou, do it early. Fish the bay for the remainder of the day. They seldom venture out past the bubble barrier.

FYI.....Dock your boats at Lutes at your own risk when there are wakeboarders in the water. These dudes will not slow down and their wakes will send your boat into the Lutes bulkhead dock.

txkngfish: Sorry to hear about your run in with them. They can be a MFer when I am fishing in my jon boat.

That's why ya keep a small potato launcher on your boat. When they fly by, give em a drive by spud. Or bring an auto airsoft gun and say HI to the wake/skier. Just some thoughts, lol. When I was a kiddo up at my grandparents in North Louisiana, my grandpa let me shoot at flybyers with my sling shot. Hit a few boats and one guy. They weren't to happy, but papaw thought it was hilarious.

We paintballed a guys ski boat in Dickinson once , every weekend he would go about ten feet from us we asked him stop and he just kept on , so we hit his boat three times and hauled *** out of there
I dont always drink beer, but when i do , I prefer to be fishing !!!!!

My new invention for kayakers. Once you get to your spot, throw out your ol RC gator decoy. Everytime the skiier falls in the water, start shouting and waving and control the decoy closer to the fallen skiier. And laugh when they haul ***** and never come back. Problem solved.

We all have to share the water... One of the recent participants in the Lutes tournament is a local wake boarder and he donated a nice door prize.
He takes it easy on fisherman but I dout he would come that close to you.
Most generally don't fish the bayou where the skiers are for good reason.
But the areas holding good fish don't have boats buzzing by them... So when you find them... You will be out of the way of skiers

I'm a big boarder & slalom a lot. Move out of the way! I get pulled at 30-35 slalom & coming off power stinks. We choose open areas and longer stretches I wake board & knee board at 20. Don't confuse trick speed and water bladders for large annoying waves they are ideal for aerials.

I wakeboard, but we respect fellow fisherman. I would try to hit em with my airsoft rifle, but my boat only goes 30 and we would get run down haha!
