State Inspection...failed...window tint too dark

I took my 07 Jeep in for a State Inspection. Everything passed except the window tint. I was told that the driver's window is only allowing 24% light through, and the minmum is 25%. I am being told that I have to have my front windows re-tinted in order to pass. I argued that 1% is such a small difference, but was told that's the law.


Has anyone else had an issue like this? I'm pizzed!

You need to "locate" a place that will certify you. I had to look for places that would approve me when I had dark tint on my old truck. Try Long point everyone knows a place you'll probably get a pm.

I've had the same thing happen -- Ask that jack wagon to see the calibration cert on his tint meter and when the last time was that it was field calibrated.

I get pissed every year at the stupid sheet the state does in relation to car inspection and such. I took care of my sick father last year in La. until his death in Aug. and my explorer inspection and plates ran out while I was there. I decided to register my vehicle there as I had no idea how long I was going to be away from Texas prior to his passing and it was the easiest transition I've had in many years. $22.00 for liscense plates for 2 years and $8.00 for a sticker. $4.50 pack of Marlboro with tax. I hate the fact that insurance companies dictate laws that make no sense as I don't like wearing seat belts and if I had a motorcycle, I wouldn't have to. Last year got a seatbelt ticket in Texas,$150.00, got one in La. $25.00. If anyone wonders why I don't move from Texas, all my kids and grandkids live here where I raised them and they need me from time to time, otherwise I'd be on my farm over there tomorrow. I wonder how much the state inspects the oil and chemical plants for pollution as opposed to what's coming out my tailpipe.

Worked for me -- I asked him so many technical analyzer questions he was stumbling all over himself. Helps that I've worked with analyzers for the last 15 years though.

I did it and didn't know what the fudge I was talking about but the look on my face said I was a smart mfer. lol.

That stinks. Should have made him drive it out in the sun to make up the diff. Shade or cloud cover can give lower readings in my experience. I need to find a place that will do my wifes ride around Pasadena with 5% Anyone know a good place? 2 years ago a chain inspection place passed it with the same tint and now they won't wth... 8)

I've been going to the same state inspection place for 15yr. he'll pass anything i bring good luck some one well pass it

Mine failed this year also ,last year was a differant # keep trying somebody wiil pass it and maybe by insp. time again next year it will have faded some and pass on its own. They change those laws pretty often, who knows it could change back next year!

Ive never had that problem once on longpoint ! And i limo all of mine. Just dont drive up with your windows up.
