  • Outboard Dyno; Thinking about purchasing one.

Wondering if this is a item that anyone would be interested in having dyno pulls and adjustment made on the machine. I am trying to justify the expense of 15K, and just don't know if I would be able to sell the service. any input would be appreciated.

I dunno. My old mechanic (retired) was Huey Smith and he always hooked my motor up to a dyno to run it and check it-but it wasn't a hi-dollar machine?????

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. You going to start tweaking engines for more power?

Could, but just thinking I could really get tuning to the optimal state by tweaking with the dyno.

If it works the same with drag deisel trucks , dyno will tell you your hp ft# of tourque , what cylinders are running offset of each other , fuel ratio between carbs or intake , and airflow

I would say no unless the motors nowadays are becoming too tough to tune without one, which means you have customers bringing back their motors because you aren't able to tune it well enough. I don't see how you will be able to cover your cost much less make a profit. Will people pay more money because you have a dyno?

A cheaper dyno for loading up the motor is by attaching a crab trap to it.... they can be had for free over at Fatboys.

Consider the varying operating conditions, and that most of your customers are fishermen (?)

A dyno maybe more of a luxury item for high performance boats that are MOT alot. If you have enough of those types of high $$ customers, then it's worth it.

Most of the replies seem to indicate that we're more Chevrolet vs. DMC type customers.

Yeah, I think I will not be doing the Dyno. My Wife said I have to buy here a diamond for the same amount lol. More I think of it not really a wise investment.

Very true, since she already has a ring... The dyno should be the no brainer

Honestly I'd love to hook my motor up to a dyno to see how many horses I'm turning. I bet my 35 block is pushing 45+ now
