You can mount to side of most jack plates, but my personal opinion after installing so many, is the side mount rattles around to much. I rather see it mounted between the Jack Plate and transom, just sturdier install, and you can put the side mount ladder on the jsck plate no problem opisite of Talon. Ladder is suitable for continual use. I realy like the side mount ladder because you can raise or lower the ladder with the jack plate in diffrent condtions.Bryan Evans

Yes, it would be better since we realy are not geared up for dockside. I hate to leave a tool behind and have to run back to finish up.
