I started my first job back when I was 17 at the HRC on Memorial Dr. I was a supervisor of the day camp & lifeguards and was an avid tennis player when I could find the time. Cliff was an early instructor & tennis pro for the club. He was one of those guys that knew your name & was very friendly. I took many lessons from Cliff over the years and his music still rings in my head from him & his band playing near the pool on Sunday's. It is with sadness that I am copying & pasting this e-mail I just received:
"The Houston Racquet Club would like to extend sincere condolences to the family of HRC tennis pro James "Cliff" Tyree who passed away this morning, Friday, February 10, 2012. Cliff worked at the Club for more than 36 years and will be missed by everyone. Details will follow shortly on the Memorial Service as well as a reception to be held at the Club in celebration of Cliff's life."
