Where I fish I break 100LB leader. So it's needed to survive the bottom structure and get the fish up. All tackle is crimped on and the record on my boat still stands at 70LBS for a Black Drum. It took two of us to lift it up & it almost pulled me over I was expecting 40-50 lbs not 70! Wish I had a photo of it, we got a 50LB on camera but the 70 was released quickly because it was looking bad.

There was a drum tournament last year at the dike I sold a surf rod and delivered it there.Pescadonation put it on.If its drum time its dike time.I only use heavy surf gear homemade leaders n 8 oz stainless weights 10ft harnells an 113hlw 30lb ande or big game .20 years ago I bought 50- 8oz stainless spider weights at 2 dollars each .Im glad I did.Down to about ten left .Comment
