Caught one in Titlum-Tatlum in 2008 under the lights. I thought it was a monster trout. I was actually quite disappointed. A cool catch nontheless.

buddy had about a 3 footer on, across from the water tower. Then it did a patented jump out of the water, probably cleared the water by a foot, and came unbuttoned. Pretty exciting.

I saw the one at Caranchua reef maybe 10 years ago. I was wading one morning and here comes this fin down the East side of the reef. From a distance I thought it was just a shark, but it swam right by me and I was freaking out. It was a 6' Tarpon. I waited until it past and then cast in front of it with my topwater. It cruised right on by, so I cast again with the same result . The one(s) at the causeway were in the 70's.
If you ever get a chance to talk with Mike Williams ask him about Tarpon.......

As a kid growing up in Rockport I remember people catching Tarpon off the Copano Bay fishing bridge on a regular basis. we won't talk about how many years ago that was.

I hooked a 5'+ under the causeway in 1984-lost it when she ran around the bridge pilings but she made 2 nice aerial jumps first, saw one in Dickinson bay in 85 and hooked 4, boated 2 in Port O near the jetties. They are fun.

awesome catch! I caught one drifting the narrows shoreline about 8 yrs ago. definitely counts on your "must catch list" and you have proof, all I have is the memory.

I have only landed one! It was 33" and on a zebco 33 of all rigs. I was 16 working on a 42' Ocean out of Freeport and scored a day off. The deckhand from the slip next door and I dumped my 14' flat boat in the brazos near the Mystery Ship. Ran up the river to the warm water disscharge from dow. *Please Note that this was before they put the fences up and it was intern legal to do so* We jumped the log jam and the fishing was on. 2 limits troat and reds 1 flounder and then WHAM! There goes a Tarpon with my lure in his mouth into the air. It was Awesome! I have not seen another since.

Oh those memories of yesteryear. Was born and raised in Freeport with a rod and reel in my hands. Dad was one of the best shrimp boat captains there and the memories of fishing the old and new Brazos, skimmergates, surfside and quintana are burned into my mind. Thanks for taking me back.
