Have ya tried hammering it flat, then get key made? I bent one and cracked it, put it on a 2x4 and lightly pounded on it-was able to get a new key made.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Thanks WestEndAngler. Im up in Htown for work but thought id ask the gang if they knew anyone in particular. I have called a lot of key smith places and they either don't have the blank, are mobile and will call back in 5 minutes but never do or are too far away.
Robalo: thats a good Idea. would have tried it a while ago had I known its such a PITA to get a key made for a vehicle. I think it may be so twisted that it will break when untwisting.
Take spare key & get new key made would be ideal scenario... I take it you don't have a spare.
The best place in Houston was King Safe & Lock off I-10 in between Voss / Bingle & Wirt / Chimney Rock.
I think they moved... It went from King safe to something like "Stanley Lock" and just recently I noticed they didn't appear to be in business there anymore.
Toy-Motor Land Cruiser? You might have to talk to the dealer for a blank or spare. The newer cars have computer chips in the key for theft protection and the locksmith can't fix that part - they can only get your door unlocked. Happens quite a bit especially up north where it can get close to zero temperature, and the key will just snap right off. If you have success in getting something fixed, GET TWO.
Automotive Locksmith is great and he comes to you. He can also do weird double cuts like Mercedes and Lexus keys. He has most keys on hand, even the newer models with electronics.
West End Cycle is also good, but you may have to get the key blanks beforehand.
Glad it's an old fishin' mobile, a good vehicle for the beach. Curmudgeon seems to know the good auto guys who can cut those kinds of keys. It is a specialty these days ...
