I agree... It seems like the wind has been pumpin' so much that they hang on the leeward side of wherever and just sit around... Maybe they are at occupy galveston.. who knows!

The birds don't work as much in the winter as the warmer times of the year.

I saw hundreds in an area several times and did hit a few flocks about a month ago-mostly 5:1 ratio of dinks to keepers but still a blast.

This is the best time of the year to see birds working, but like Gilbert said, the shrimp hatch is poor. I didn't see any working in EMB last weekend, but I wasn't looking for them either.

I have had some bird activity, mostly in Caranchua lake and west bay on the north shorline.

i gota disagree with that...fall/early winter has always been bird time....summer time birds were always just a bonus to me.

Birds have really been working in the evenings since the weekend in West Bay. I haven't been out in the mornings to know.
BTW Don't get fooled by the flock of seagulls that work the same general area for a long time. They're "jacking" with the little Bufflehead ducks!

Right before the red tide got bad on the beach side, the seagulls, pelicans, and terns were diving on massive bait balls of minnows, mullet, herring, small jacks, and other bunker baits. It was HUGE! Some of the bait balls came into the bays on the incoming tide, lots of blow-ups with shark, tarpon, big girl trout, and nice reds. That party is pretty much over now.

The places I frequent have been devoid of birds for the last 2 or 3 weeks. I was hoping for them to show up to take my folks out and catch fish but it hasn't happened.

I'll have to agree with Gilbert.
