  • All Terrain v. Mud Terrain for beach

Was talking with some friends about which kind of tire is better/preferred for driving on sand. Mud terrains definitely look cooler but are they better for sand? or is it better to have less tread? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

let air outta your tires for maximum traction on sand just bring a portable pump if its a 4x4 either tread should be good in the sand

The best thing for sand is low tire pressure. I usually air down if I am actually going to "play". I would only air down if you have a way of airing your tires back up 15 PSI is what I usually ran on the beach and never went over 10 MPH. This is all back when I was wheeling a lot. I ran mud tires no problem. All terrains did well too. Mud tires "dig" more so from a stop that can be a bad thing or a good thing depending upon the situation. You will be very happy with AT.

          X2.

I wouldn't select my tires for the beach but for what you want to use it for elsewhere. If you get going over 20 MPH, well there are some differences but we ... hehe ... don't recommend that too much.

All I can say is if you know what tires you need I can find them.
