Not a river otter, a sea otter. I've seen them here at SLP and at my old camp in La. Cute little creatures.

Nope, they're River Otters. Sea Otters are on the West coast of US, Alaska, Alutians and further West.

Tastes Great, Less Filling, Tastes Great!Years ago there were a couple by the Yacht Basin and they were taking flounder off of my friends stringer. He trapped them in the drainage pipe and boy did that pizz off some folks fishing the little wall. Hehe, the "F-word" was flying high on that day. He let them out and it was cool to see them swim away, but I swear one flipped him off....I haven't been on that dock in years, but I imagine the flounder are stacked up on it right now.

                        It's OK Sandy.
We have a River Otter that frequents the barge dock here at DuPont in LaPorte. Whenever I see him I stop what I am doing and watch him or her in total amazement. The otter will stare right back at me like it's thinking, WTF are you looking at MF'er? LOL
The one I always see has to be every bit of 4 ft long with a tail as this as thick as end of a baseball bat and the way they stare at you makes me think they are very inteligent.

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

My fishing partner's is where we clean a lot of fish, especially from offshore. He heard a racket one night that sounded like some crazed seagull so he went out to look. Turned out to be two otters on his dock fighting, or so he thought at first. Then he realized they were trying to mate. Well, at least the male was, so he was biting the female and she was screaming while they rolled around on the dock. It was probably a little like JT in Vegas!
Anyway, they finally rolled off the dock and as soon as they hit the water, the female suddenly stuck all four legs straight out! LOL

If they're following each other in the water the profile looks like a small sea serpent.

They are cool critters. Saw one a few years back at the GSC (maybe the same flounder theif?!) and snuck up for some pics.

those cute little mofos eat their weight every day. I had one in the lake up here a few years ago (eating all my high $$ stocked fish)and they are hard to shoot but I did manage to kill the little bastord.

Kenny......Did yall videotape the otter sex scene to play back at home parties and get togethers?
