Theres a guy that rides 225 and 45....everytime I see him, he's on 1 wheel doin about 90....and yes, it's a crotch rocket! Dudes got skillz...unfortunately, no mental capacity to match those skillz.
Don't be a Nancy!
If it smells like fish....you know I've been there!
My peace has been disturbed several times today by SUPER LOUD bikes on the blue water highway, and I'm over a mile from it. I don't have any problem with motorcycles or their riders, I get that they're just doing their thing, but I've NEVER understood why they would go with straight pipes and make all that racket.
I was raised in the land where Harley's are born (Milwaukee) and the alure is the thumping noise. This evening it's quiet, compared to last night. The wind has picked up a bit.

It is illegal for an unescorted riding group to block roads or lights. However, as a biker/rider with over 100k safe miles, I know that there is a very good reason to keep bikes from cars. There is also a very good reason to tell people that they should never ride a bike again, EVER !
I rode with a group of adult, responsible riders and I can tell you, Cars & cell-phones will kill a biker faster than anything else.
I am not defending this group that you encountered, but that is the reason most groups block the roads until the whole group passes by.

For me it is because most people dont look when driving and cant hear a quite bike. I use them so people who dont see me can here me and might use a little more caution while on the road. There is nothing worse than driving down the road and being forced off it cause someone didt look very good out of their mirrors and I get run off it going 70. It is not fun.
Charity is good. Using charitable donations as an excuse to unlawfuly block 15 miles of on ramps and cut people off in the fastlane at 75mph and slam on the brakes to make a riding lane for your buddies isnt good.
Also, having the on ramps blocked by guys standing with their arms crossed and faces covered by bandanas doesnt exactly relay the message of charity.
There are fundraiasers downtown and at church's every sunday around houston that have HUGE guest lists/congregations that wait their turn when leaving the event. Why cant you?
I never thought of the fact that the loud pipes could help with safety. That's interesting, and I'm all for the safety of riders but dad-gum they are LOUD and ANNOYING. Before anyone gets on their high horse thinking I'm just hating on bikers, it's not true. I've lost 3 very close friends in motorcycle accidents, all caused by drivers not paying attention. In 2 of the cases, had they been in a car, it would have just been a fender bender, but on a bike you have no protection and the crumple zones are your own bones.
As far as the idiots riding wheelies doing 90 on 45, I can only hope that they have filled out their organ donor cards. I have a friend who needs a liver.

Six dead so far unfortunately. Yesterday afternoon the mailman was stopped waiting to turn into 7seas grocery and a guy going very fast on a bike hit him square in the rear and end-oed. He was killed instantly, partially decapitated. Sad, very sad.....
Most people out there riding these harleys from bar to bar never had motorcycles as kids and don't respect them as they should I have had a bike since I was 2 years old and I went through grade school with silver teeth because I ran into my dads parked 72 chevy 4x4 pipe bumper along with numerous broken bones through the years. My brother also raced motocross for 15 years and he broke nearly every bone in his body. I have high respect for motorcycles and the damage they can do! IMO there are way too many illegal aliens on the road with no license and no clue how to drive there is no way on he'll I would get on the road with them!!! Be safe fellas
If reason bikers have loud pipes was safety you would think that they would also wear a helmet and maybe an orange vest. I agree with Kenny. I hope no more bikers get hurts this weekend and it will be over in a few hours.

boom
Oh, I get it now. The guys driving the streets listening to hip-hop are just trying to be safe! LOL
The bikes are insanely loud because they want the attention.
LOL, 100% correct. That "loud pipes save lives" stuff is silly. You can't hear them when they are coming up from behind you, and that's when it matters. If you are up ahead, us cagers see you just fine.

Coach, try living on Broadway like me!
I rode motorcycles for several years, even went with one as my only transportation for a while (Kind of cracks me up seeing the tahoe's with trailers unloading at mile 7 so they can ride in like they are hardcore :rofl)
I see plenty driving like fools, almost saw a dude get hit running a red light yesterday. Unattentive cagers cause plenty of wreck, but I'd say that most are their own fault.
I don't really get too irritated. Like they said, it is only one weekend. Shoot, we put up with Kappa too, although they are probably less obnoxious. I see enough in the ER that they pay their dues that way. It's really sad to care for a broken shell of a man with the mental capacity of a 4 year old, then you look at the pictures their family brought in and they were "badasses" a month ago.
So what say you FWE Bikers? Is it for safety or just because you like the attention that comes from causing noise pollution? I'm going to tend to agree with Boom, because he rides and I don't think he's blowing smoke. When I was 15 I thought it made me cool to peel out all over the place in my 65 Impala. I look back now and know I was an idiot. So are most bikers stuck in that same mindset? I truly want to know your opinions.
