Day 1 and I'm already SICK OF IT!!!

Preface: I know its good for the Galveston economy... but that is about it.

Making my way down to Galveston today on the 45 and see 1000 of em leaving the shopping mall parking lot over by TPWD and Serious Tackle. Seeing as they all want to go in one big group, a couple bikers BLOCKED OFF the entire feeder road on-ramp. No big deal right? WRONG, as the trip continues, I see 3-4 deusch bag bikers blocking EVERY SINGLE onramp to 45S, starting at the aforementioned location till the last on-ramp right before TIKI island. WHO THE _______ do these guys think they are?

Keep in mind, they were not being escorted by the Police.

I called 911 and said "not an emergency but... "im sorry sir, this is for emergencies only" and the line went dead.

If I were a highway patrol officer, I would be on these guys like white on rice. Im no party pooper, but think of it like this:

If I drove my car the way these guys drive their bike's, I'd be pulled over for wreckless driving, suspected DUI, obstructing traffic, etc etc.

Also... couldn't blocking traffic like that be construed as "impersonating an officer"?

That line of bikers you noticed was charity run for Shriners' Hospital. Another one was for honoring our veterans. I know this is inconvenient for a lot of people, but there are a lot of very fine people on the island this weekend on their motorcycles. A little patience please...........

For the record, I wasn't griping because I know what your saying here...lotta charity stuff done by them. If you can avoid GTown, I would this weekend, unless you want to be part of crowds. All good fun really, still they probably shouldve had a escort while blocking feeders.

And I'm not taking all their sides. I ride a Harley (40 years) and I know that they all damn sure ain't angels. As far as that weelie goes, I know for a fact that "weren't no Harley!" It's good to have more than one hobby--I think I'll have another BEER!

Six dead so far unfortunately. Yesterday afternoon the mailman was stopped waiting to turn into 7seas grocery and a guy going very fast on a bike hit him square in the rear and end-oed. He was killed instantly, partially decapitated. Sad, very sad.....

State and county were getting em on 146.Just enjoying their thing just like we do.

It's loud and annoying, but it's only one weekend. It is interesting to see all the different bikes, bike groups, and people watch. There's a group of vagitarians with pink motorcycles staying somewhere here in Jamaica Beach! LOL

BTW Best i can tell about 75+% don't wear helmets.

PS Our Leos are being especially tolerant this weekend and not stopping people......for a change.

My peace has been disturbed several times today by SUPER LOUD bikes on the blue water highway, and I'm over a mile from it. I don't have any problem with motorcycles or their riders, I get that they're just doing their thing, but I've NEVER understood why they would go with straight pipes and make all that racket.

Hey, it will be over on Sunday. I can live and let live for an event like this but for some of the insanely unsafe behavior. Riding wheelies in traffic on 45?! Really!?

There were alot of bikers at UTMB Friday night.
