  • Baffin Bay weekend fishing report, need help

I'm goin fishin in Baffin Bay, outside of Rivera and was seein if anyone had a report from down there. I hear that the Trout are hitting off the bottom with cut bait, but just seein if anyone heard anything different.

Havent heard anything like that. Are you planning on fishing with bait or arties? I know they enjoyed my Devil Eyes in Root Beer a few weeks ago, but I was south of Baffin by about 10-30 miles. They always like shrimp under a popping cork if you are gonna soak bait. Good luck. I love Baffin!

I talked with Capt Aubrey Black 2 days ago and he didn't give me any specifics, but he did say the fishing has been good when the winds allow. I know he's a fan of soft plastics with the rootbeer devil eye being one of his faves.
If your gonna wade, I'd have some of those rigged on an 1/8 or 1/16 head, a couple of your favorite tops, and a floating corky, or two.
If soaking bait...have a good gps showing rocks(but beware they aren't all marked) idle in when getting close, and anchor up on the outside and soak some live shrimp under a mauler around the rocks.

If it smells like fish....you know I've been there!

        Hook,

You are going to have favorable winds, which is been rare down there lately. If your launching out of Riviera near Loyola Beach try fishing the west shoreline directly across in Cayo Del Grullo. You need to buy a top spot map.....it will show where the rocks are located. That is for safety purposes. You can fish them, but they are to deep to wade. Just find a shoreline that have small coves. Don't worry about lure selction so much....if the fish are there they will eat. If you want some keeper dinks, drift the point from Cayo Del Grullo going into Laguna Salada with shrimp or soft plastics. If you don't know Baffin very well, be carefull, particularly if you want to fish Tide Gauge, Badlands or Rocky slough. Good luck and let us know how you do. Here is the forecast:
