  • SLP Toll Bridge to begin tolls April 4th

They have a sign on the toll booth that says they will again be purloining your $2 beginning April 4th. Dat's next Saturday. Just wanted to warn y'all. - Sandy

I was hoping they would wait until Blue Water Hwy was repaired.

It wouldn't be that bad if the money from the collected tolls went straight to the repairs of the BWH.

          Catfood and "retirement"

And the ol' "$1 for county, $1 for me".

Since the toll booth is in Galveston County, I'd say none of the money they collect will be going to the BWH.

We should write the county and demand receipts be given.

Not sure if anyone knows this but you used to be able to buy tokens. If you bought like $20 worth you got a few for free.

Just saw on another forum that you are not having to drive on the beach.

Went down the BWH this weekend and only where they are working do you have to go on the beach. They weren't working this weekend so you didn't have to use the beach if you didn't want to, but the BWH is really rough in places.

I hate that stupid toll booth.

I loved it when a drunk took one for the team a few years ago and that thing was down for a spring/summer. It sure was nice during spring break to no have to pay those guys.

I'd like to see where all that money actually goes.

                          GHS:

It goes in their pocket-how many times have they short-changed you? I've been twice-only when you give a $10 bill or more-they give back all in $1 bills and usually shorted. No receipts. Oops, gotta quit complaining since I want that job after I retire from oil bizness. I think I'll make more $ doing the "one for me and one for the county" deal than I do/have in oil. BTW, if I get the booth job in a few years, FWE folks are free and cats will be hanging off the bridge by their scruff.

Blue water hwy is still under a lot of construction.
During the weekend there were several stretches that were still under construction but you could drive them.
Once the work crews get back you will still have to drive along the beach.
That long stretch by Access#5/cell tower/Key Largo has only an oil coating. Its not been paved but it is open.
Between there and the condo are where you'll have to drive the beach.
The two real bad spots just past the old Brite Lite store haven't had much done yet.
