I hit Academy last night (after about 7 beers-not recommended since restroom is opposite side of tackle) and was dismayed/disappointed with their stock. I found very little (almost none) offshore lures such as rapalas, no feather lures, no rod repair materials to fix an eyelet, very few leader materials-last time there, they had lots of offshore stuff-now almost nothing and I got the last 2 baby dorado rapalas they had (they had 3 rapalas period-no other and they were on end of aisle where normally is their crappy stuff/discount rack).

Have yall noticed the changes at Academy or was the Voss store just poorly stocked?

no, all academy's are getting to be the same way from what I can tell. I'm having a hard time finding stuff I use to buy from there. The pegs are empty. Don't know what gives.

It's been 2 weeks since I have found bone super spooks. And the last time I took the last three for a buddy...i've noticed this too.

I think it's the recession, and the offshore stuff just isn't moving like the good days. Can't have stock just sitting there because you're paying big bucks for the rent. I've seen Bass Pro and Cabela's dumping some of the lesser known offshore gear at times, too. Most of the "tackle hoes" who stayed in the game already have too much stuff, except perhaps tuna poppers and such. I'll be walking the surf and the bay with last year's stuff, myself.

I think it's some yankee bastage (prolly an Obama lover) that thinks selling clothes is better than selling guns and fishing stuff-this sheeits made in New York City-get a rope. Doombazzes-Texas wants guns and fishing, not a bunch of chinese made t-shirts. Another ruint sports store due to some yankee new yorker that aint shot a gun or ever fished.

When a group of yankees buys a Texas successful store, WTH mess up what made it work-shutting down tackle aisles is just dumb IMO-I think the new owners are just a bunch of investment banker types with no outdoor knowledge or experience.

this isn't with just offshore tackle. I'm talking about jig heads and hard baits. they just ain't putting anything back in stock. I had to go to Bass Pro to get some super spook jr's and I hate that place.

The Academy in Lake Jackson is no better...better not run out of 1/16th or 1/8 screwlock jigheads because you wont hardly ever find any there, same with most of the Paul Brown series such as devil eyes etc... I either go to Cut Rate or Bass Pro, the drive is not great but I know they will have what I need and I just stock up.

Yep-they did not have any screwjigheads except maybe 3 packs, no 1/4 oz. heads at all and looked like no plans to re-stock, plus stuff was moved-it looked like a whole aisle was hauled off/gone. BPS takes me 30 minutes to get to. FTU is about 10 minutes-but that's the Bingle/Voss locale-the real store takes 30+ minutes and is a PITA to get to. Dang yankee bastages-bad enuf we got Obama-now his ahole buds are messing up a decent tackle store. They had a bunch of Brown's plastics. Just Bullchip.

Yeah Bryan-Voss and Westheimer by Michaels, (you should know-especially with your reference to gay bar and apple martinis above-ha ha) where ya get your pink silky flowers and pot pourri. The Bungle Hole store is farther for me to drive to.

I thought Coors Light was a gay drink. Dat's why I never touch it.

I haven't followed this site lately. Apple martini's? Has this become a "she-man's site"? Appears that maybe huntin' and fishin' have taken on a new meaning
Fish or work...Hmmm what should I do?

I use the new store on Lake Woodlands from time to time and the last time I was in there, they were out of the TTF jig heads I use and had one pay of wading boots in size 11. Seems they are really losing it - or focusing on selling t-shirts.
