Youth under age 17 may hunt free with a permitted adult. 18 and above, you must have your Hunter's education.

Persons born on or after September 2, 1971 must have successfully completed a hunter safety education course before they may hunt in Texas. Just got that off of T,P,&W site.

Are you serious?! I always thought you had to hunt with someone 18 or over if you were under a certain age and had completed hunters education.

I don't think my parents let me cross the road without calling them once I got to my buddies house at that age... Who in there right mind would say here boy take my 12GA & good luck

Just wrong IMO. I think you should be at least over 16 before your allowed to hunt w/o an adult (over 18) in the blind (close proximity)

A law wouldnt bother me but i like the parents having the deicisoin, I was eleven when my dad gave me my 30-30 and let me in my stand alone, of course all years before had been spent with him teaching me and of course hunter ed. he would drop me off and i would wait for him to come pick me up

i would dove hunt alone in the field across the street when i was ten.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

As long as they have Hunters Ed. its ok with me. I guided duck hunts as soon as I turned 16. My brother took me hunting when he was 16 and I was 10.

Anything to encourage youth to hunt and enjoy the outdoors. Too many of my nephews play too many video games
