Good luck, I won't go out unless it's 2' of less. You need to get a Hot Spots map I told Robby this. Go to Academy & purchase one for the Gulf of Mexico out of Galveston.
I saw the report. 4's don't bother me too much but less than 2's are nice. I find most of the larger fish like a little chop. We'll see.
I bought a detailed offshore map offshore of Galveston. It lists all the GPS locations for all the rigs and hot spots. Just wondering if anyone knew of the name of some of these rigs or areas that seem to produce well this time of year.
40-45+ NM for Blue Water last time we went out it was ~ 45-50NM before it became true blue.
Galveston is different than Port A - going out of the jetties you have about 20 miles of what we call the washing machine, short period waves just pound you to death. The convergence of all the currents in that area, coupled with the boat traffic will certainly put you to the test. I'd go with you but no way I'd go out with that report my back would hate me.
Coe,
Port A is the same way with the jettie water. It will get so bad sometimes that I will loose sight of boats in the waves. It's definitley a test for sure. Water is choppy and waves are spuratic for about 5-10 before they come more consitant like they should.
Man I saw a 2 year old 33ft World Cat for sale in Port A last time I was there. I think it had Suzuki's on the back. I'd give a nut for one!
I just want to get out far enough to catch some snapper and do some trolling for dorado and kings.
Did you see any good weed lines out there?
Taking my boat offshore out of Galveston first time.
Any good hot spots/rigs around 40-50 miles out?
the Picayune area would be a good area to start, there is a buoy and some rocks in that area. There's also the buccaneer rigs near by which should be holding some good kingfish, dorado (weed lines) and ling right now. I wouldn't count on catching too many keeper snapper at that range because all those rigs have probably already been slaughtered, but you should be able to grind some snaps out if you can find some live baits. If you feel like stretching it out to a 60 mile run, then try the claypiles, the snapper should be thick there.
the Bucs are at 30 -32 miles from the south jetty at a 180 heading I believe-it's on that map you bought-some buoys are there marking the rocks/structure. There also is a compressor platform.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.
