  • Boatless in West Bay

I have a week long getaway planned over the 4th with family and friends at our place in Isla del Sol but our boat (Explorer 23TV) is being repaired and will not be ready in time for our trip. I am very familiar with West Bay from a boat but have never done much wading. What do you guys think? Hit surf and maybe behind SLP at daylight? I am well aware of the hazards wading around the pass. Is the surf generally productive only early or throughout the day? I'm bummed about the boat. Everyone was geared up for some hardcore fishing...

Thanks everyone. I have been a chronic lurker around these forums for a while and love the site.

if the winds lays and the surf settles it should be game on in the surf.wading behind the pass is always good.

You can go out right from the subdivision. They have some Geo Tubes that produce from time to time and 100 yards or so out is some old rock like structure that holds fish from time to time. Right at the mouth of the main canal the flounder sometimes lay up on the edge of the canal right off the pier.

      Good luck.

I'm with you on that 24Buds. After every outing I always stop and cast around the geotubes on the way back home. Will definitely be on the pier some.

If you fish the tubes, I may have seen you. I am the fat guy in the tarpon 160. Blue. Stop by and say hello!

Try Mike's light at dark!! (Explorer 21 on here-ha ha Mike.)-his beer is free also if he left the cooler out.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

Mike has a prime spot in Terra-Mar but I wouldn't recommend trying to wade out of there with out some that knows how to get out there. It can get waist high muddy in a hurry if you're off by a few feet.
I work just enough to pay for my fishing habit.
