Favorite rod length.

I use a 7 ft for the boat, 6.6 ft for wading & once in a while when the wind lays down, a 9 ft for the flats.

x2. I prefer a short rod (6'8") for chunking tops or wading, a 7' rod for throwing plastic but a 9' buggy whip is my favorite/prefered rod.

Why would it make any difference whether the rod used in the boat was longer than the one for wading?

I got an 8 footer a few weeks back for potlickin outta da bote. I find that its not so great for workin poppin cork unless you got wrists like Harry Palms. Also I find that I smash the tip into everything everywhere including ther Tiki Island channel bridge, its just akwardly long for travel and transport becasue im not used to it but im gettin better at takin it easy on it. Other than that matched up w a curado 300 its awesome to whoop up on some fish around the bote, around the motor, around the power pole, around the bow, and over the moon. You can really use the xtra foot or so to your advantage w leverage drag manuevering etc. Ill take the last 2 pros over the first 2 cons. Just another example of how an inch or 12 in the right place makes a big difference

It at least Keeps rod tip or lure from striking waters surface as much when reaching back to cast in waist deep+ water....im sure theres some more technical things too

I use 6'6" for period. There is absolutely no reason to use a rod 6"s longer, or 7' fishing from a boat. It's just parochial wisdom! IMO
