I did it a long time ago in freshwater.. when I started salt I didn't do it and it may have shortered my saltwater learning curve.
Add some other columns if you haven't already..
barometer
wind direction
Windy side or calm side
bait amount and activity level
speed of retrieve
birds present / not
moon phase
I don't keep one anymore, simplified it way down... one is either in fish or not. Granted a log might help you look in the right area. If one is in fish it's either gonna be tops or plastic or suspend and light, dark, or natural. Gotta weed out the unproductive areas for that day as fast as possilble and read the water to know what's there.
Others have benefitted from the TroutSupport.com DVD's to speed up that process.

I do it for hunting, more specifically duck hunting, but for fishing I just pick up the phone, lurk on here, or facebook stalk
....usually by using a combo of the 3, mix in some of my own know how from the knowledge bank in my head and I can usually figure a pattern out to plan a trip around at the least....Ill say thats not necessarily a fool proof system but after 2-3weeks of bumpin around every spring I find them and fish often enough to stay on them till september when i go back to chasing fowl.

There's a log book I wanted to have rights to but they have yet to allow multiple logins from the same account. Meaning I want a "FishWestEnd" logbook. Members who have donated will have rights to the book to upload reports etc. It would slowly grow to a wealth of information. We are West End Anglers, a saltwater tribe!

That would be sweet. I've a log, but it always seems to be where I'm not at. An online one would be convenient.Originally posted by WestEndAngler View PostThere's a log book I wanted to have rights to but they have yet to allow multiple logins from the same account. If I was in the business, like a charter outfit or something, I'd be sure to have very good records of the catch and the conditions. But nowadays I don't fish as much and I let the whole logbook thing slide - I don't even count the beers any more, lol.
