  • Underwater lights

I've had underwater lights for about a year now and I just can't seem to constantly catch fish. Fish are always in the lights but I cant always make them hit. I've tried a large variety of lures and live shrimp on a cork but can't seem to find the "secret." All tips are appreciated.

Also im in Sunset Cove if that helps at all.

Creep out there, be quiet and don't have any lights that will highlight you. It's pretty much "1 or 2 and done for a few" with those lights in my experience.

Small lures.. underwater lights stink IMO the 1000w MH is where it's at! However your neighbors will hate you

Not saying you won't catch fish on one but the fish spook very easily.

I love underwater lights because the bring in the bait and hold it. However, the predators will be lurking just outside of the light on the Dark Side. That means getting your lure - and speck rigs are the best - into the darkness. So if you're lit up like a swimming pool, it just won't work as good because you got too much light. It actually helps to pull your line from the lighted part into the dark, nice and slow with a twitching action. Sometimes it works - sometimes the water is just too hot and the tides aren't right, or the wind changes. I have found that for night fishing, there's sometimes a good bump between near midnight and about 3 a.m. Why I have no idea, but you'll catch a bunch for about 20 or 30 minutes and then it'll shut off like a closed door. You want to be there when that bump happens. On the Dark Side, bwahahahahaha.

These boys know what there talking about. First make sure you have a good tide and good water movement then drop spec rigs or loves lures on the outside of the lights all the way to the bottom. You may also want to use fluorocarbon leader. The good news is the underwater lights draw fish... the bad news is they make you very visible.

Yes, train lights in the canals suck for those that live across from them. one thing that would make your neighbors like you again is to put the 'tards on a timer. and leave them off until you come back to fish them again. Just a thought.
