  • Minn Kota Talon

Thinking about getting a Minn Kota talon, haven’t seen too many out in the bay and I don’t know anyone that has one, would appreciate any feed back. Thanks

I've followed a thread on another forum for a while...seems that most people like them a lot...the most common comment I see is that folks want to wait a while to see what people say after using them for some time in the salt...I have not seen any negative feedback that is significant

          Do you have his #?
I think FTU has the 6 foot for 1299. I am not sure on the price of installation maybe 200. Or less. I am going to give them a call @9:00.

For my .02 if you fish out of the boat alot ie drifting etc I would go with the power pole. Talon seems legit enough to me but I drift and boat fish just as much as I get in the water and if in the boat, I like to lower the PP just a tad till its even with the top of the motor cowling. If not someones always smackin it with jigheads or wrappin their poppin cork assembly all around it. Thats my only thing that would weigh against the Talon for me that you cant lower it outta the way

Get on the net and you can find the 6' talon cheap-the 8' sale price ones are usually out of stock-saw an 8' for $1100. I see your point C4E, but for $400+, I can buy a lotta corks and deal with wrapping. I have heard nothing but good stuff on Talon so far and woulda bought one at the cheap price if not outta stock-still looking.

What's the deal with folks putting double power poles on their boat? At $1800 per PP, seems like a lotta $ for dual toys? I guess it looks like dual exhaust????

the dual PP is to keep the boat from pivoting.

Good point Robalo. That Talon is alotta cheapa than the PP. Makes me wonder if I would have gone with it as oppose to the PP, but then again I got my boat used from Florida and its heresy to not have one on a boat there right out of the warehouse.

Call Brian @ Evans Marine in Baycliff, thats where we got ours and I love it! It was around $1400 installed (8').
I like the fact it is electric instead of hydraulic. It comes with the wireless remotes & is quiet & fast.

ANyone got any experience with how well that actually works due to how much the PP actually articulates and flexes.... I would extend a guess that it at least works ok with smaller rigs or low pro tourney style boats

I have only seen it done in the bay on a Majek. Guy came in to fish a point into the wind and dropped both. His boat never twisted as he fished from the bow.

For $3600, I would expect something beyond no pivot, such as a blond with ............!!!

Talked with Brian at Evans marine, he can install it for 1460 out the door.
Sounds like a fair price, I am taking my boat to him this evening.
                              Thanks guys.
