Since the light should float about 2' above the bottom, it still can be "hooked" by someone-my brother had the hardwired light and the conduit ended so the bulb could float free above the bottom. Maybe now they put a 90 degree elbow it, but how would ya keep it from flopping over and bulb laying in mud if conduit went all the way to the bulb's socket? Me not know, but since my bros lite was free floating, I would think the design aint changed-but maybe it has?? I aint saying nada about anyone being better than another-I know what I want-save $ since I have not had one burn out from use. 2 broke from Ike (well one actually worked after Ike but had gone completely underwater so it was a fire hazard and the other one the bulb busted prolly from debris and it went under also) and neighbor saw some guys hook another of mine and short it out. I did have another that shorted from being hooked also. I need me another though and Lori 77563 sounds like a fair deal pricewise.

Gater: Yep, they should always be on a GFCI or be plugged into a GFCI; otherwise, a short could cause a fire. Good point.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Mine sits on the bottom and is made out of a pool light enclosure. Being on the end of the canal and both me and the neighbor having deep draft boats I couldn't keep the floating ones for very long. Mine was 410.00 and is much brighter than the rest.
