A big congrats to Dpop, Steve A, Hogie, and Flapper.... Job well done guys under some nasty conditions. I know where ya'll fished and ya'll fished some brutal waters lol. Way to stick with it.........
Our day was a grind
We stayed in one spot all day making cast after cast. The morning started out good as I stuck a 5lber on the 3rd cast but she pulled off trying to get her to open her mouth to get the boga on her. 10 minutes later I stuck a 4 1/2 lber followed by a 4lber. Things were looking good but then it turned into Rat Red fast LOL. For the next two hours I caught Red after Red but they were all in the 12 to 15" range. Finally Gene tied on a plastic and with in 15 minutes had 2 4lb Reds that had me feeling pretty good. All we needed was the 3rd Trout to have a shot. While I was up in calf deep water looking for Reds out of nowhere I stuck a 25" Trout that crushed the tiny bone Super Spook Jr. Now I was feeling really good LOL. We were now sitting at roughly 20lbs and considering the conditions I thought this would get us top 5. The only problem is today I was competing against a team that had Dpop on it. When he is fishing a tourney you better be on your A+ game LOL. At 130 it was time to head back in to the weigh in. On the very last cast Chris stuck a 25" Red that up graded us 1 Red and gave 21.84 which was good for 2nd place behing Team FishWestend. Out of 65 teams I will take it!!!! It was tough out there and the wind was brutal!
1st place Team Fishwestend
2nd place Team Tuna/Saltwater Assault
1st place Flounder Team Tuna/ Saltwater Assault
Again Great job Team Fishwestend!!!!!!! You deserve the gold

Thanks everyone. I would also like to thank Coe for sponsoring us and for the cool shirts. We had a lot of compliments. Congratulations to Greg and his team, they were only one pound behind us, so it could of gone either way. We did fish in brutal water for our trout, maybe about 3" of visibilty, but this was the spot we found our fish pre-fishing, so even though the wind turn 180 on us, the fish aren't going anywhere, just a little tougher to catch. We didn't catch a lot of trout there, but we did end up with three solid ones, 4-4.5lbs. All of the trout came on topwaters and suspending mirrolures. Once we had our trout by 10:30, we knew we had a good chance to place in the top five if the reds we found earlier in the week were still there. Off we went to our redfish hole, which was on the other side of the bay. That ride was a little rough to say the least, but Hogie's Gulf Coast was cutting the chop up pretty good. We arrived at the redfish hole around 11, which gave us two hours to fish. The north wind had dropped the tide out 6", which had me worried a bit, but shortly after fishing there, we found the reds were still there. I have to say DPOP was putting it on us with his magical lure. He busted a big one in there, little over 7 lbs., which turn out to put us on top. We all caught a bunch of reds in there, Hogie had two good ones bust him off on the shell, DPOP lost a good one, but we did get a 4.5 red for our last fish for the stringer. I was surprised we ended up winning the tournament, there were a lot of good teams in it, but it sure is sweet. Everyone on our team fished hard all day and contributed to the stringer. I had a great time out there and thanks for inviting me to join your team.
Thanks everyone. It was a tough day out there for sure but we were able to scratch out a few of the bites we needed. Thanks Coe for sponsoring us and the invite to fish the tournament. A big thanks goes out to the rest of our team. You guys are all great fishermen and I had a blast fishing with you guys. I am glad you all had the confidence to stick to plan A. With the conditions it would have been very easy to scramble and try to go to a plan B or C but you guys were willing to stick with it and that was awesome. Thanks again guys.
