  • Where to get ice?

My daughter's school fundraiser BBQ is this weekend and we haven't been able to find anyone to deliver ice to Galveston. We need 300-400 lbs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Go to buckees and take two people, you can get 200# for 10 bucks. 10 bag limit per person.

do what tiny said or contact the local FD to see if they have an ice maker. That's what my sons school does for their spring fundraiser. I load up my truck with 3 150qt and go drain the local FD's ice maker.

Thanks, Tiny. I'll use that as a contingency plan! I don't think there are any very near Galveston, though.

Try the "Ice Machine" at 2nd st. and Hwy 6, in Hitchcock. Cheapest ice in town.

There's also a Buckee's not too far off of exit 22 on 45. Maybe someone coming down could get it for ya.

                      Thanks for all the help!
Last year we used Diamond Ice here on the island. They forgot they were supplying the ice and showed up just as the event was starting. Apparently they're no longer around. They weren't cheap, but with all the running around to get it set up, they were incredibly convenient. Sorry they aren't around any more.
BTW: Our event runs at the same time as the FWE crawfish boil. Crud!!! H-E- double hockey sticks!!

I think it's a 1.75 for 20 lbs here, but.... this ice is 150% better than Bucees. Holds really well.
