SOUTH PADRE ISLAND — The Coast Guard is looking for two brothers who disappeared in the Gulf of Mexico off a Texas beach in a swimming accident that left an older cousin dead.
Lt. Mary Arvidson says the search continued Thursday off South Padre Island for the siblings, who are ages 12 and 18. The man who died was 22 years old. His name was not immediately released.
Arvidson told The Associated Press that conditions were windy on Wednesday night when the three males were “just hanging out” at the beach and went into the water. People with the group summoned help when the trio did not return to shore.
The Coast Guard located the cousin in the water, but could not revive him.
Further details on the family were not immediately released.
