I went out the other night thinking I would go into the lake to find a protected shore line but coming out of the Dickinson channel and then turning right ( Heading East ) towards the flood gate in pitch black with just my driving lights I came across a huge sand bar / shoal that is new and it really had me screwed up. The wind was pumping hard and the water was shallow all around. I think it was pure luck that I was able to get the boat back to deep water and head back to the ramp stumped over this. It was a bad experience.
I saw a working dredge out there last fall but the work they left behind back then wasn't anything like what is out there now and I haven't heard anyone talking about it. If anything, maybe it will make for a good flounder gigging area on a calm night.
