  • Weekend Report

I took off work Friday and was actually fishing Thursday night for my birthday in the underwater lights. We did not launch the boat that night decided to fish from the dock & drive to some of our favorite lights that we visit. All the lights were off... SOB! So we fished some protected areas & I was able to get a throwback trout & same with Cody. It was blowing too! Winds steadily increased all weekend. Friday I woke up and found that the UPS guy had dropped off my exhaust! Great. So we put it aside drove to Texas City picked up the new Yamaha generator, drove to meet Tiny & dropped off some prizes from Breakwater for his tournament benefitting Shriners. Once we got back I realized I forgot to purchase a tap kit... So another trip back into town & we finally had everything we needed. Installed & on the water by 2 PM we were cruising around each just brought & reel just incase we went into some marsh & poled around for some reds but the wind was brutal and made poling the boat silly, I was pretty much steering the boat with the push pole as the wind toyed with us. We made our way out & had intentions on setting up a drift near Confederates the water looked perfect, unfortunatly the motor started backfiring & popping on me. I believe the spark plug wire was arching and grounding itself out on the block somewhere. Ended up getting the boat back in okay but it did it again Saturday when we were leaving Dana's. Made for a slow idle back into Pirates luckily we were just outside the geotubes when it happened so we were somewhat protected. Saturday night landed a couple nice trout from the light, again didn't take boat out. One of the guys had to leave early & left Saturday. Which left Cody, Mario & I. Quick bite at Nates then off to the house, we took the Robalo out across the bay and over to Pelican Island bridge killed a 12 pack waiting on some drum but nothing. Left there made the run back to the house, cooked up some steaks before fishing. Sunday we left early and I pulled the boat over to Port Arthur to get it fixed for the weekend. I think its just a spark plug wire but we'll see.

Sounds good except for spark plug issues and no buglies.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Man, that wind was kickin'. March winds in April. Hopefully the April showers will start showing up in May. NEED RAIN, not wind. Sorry your boat was acting up. Dookie Ray had motor trouble too right behind Bird Island. Hope you had a good time anyway.
