I was fishing some stuff last week that looked like I was on Conroe from the bass fishing old days with all the grass already grown up to the surface.
There were some fair trout laying in the grass and hard to get to in 15+ winds/ some in the grass and some in the smaller pot holes. Wind made it hard to hit the potholes with the shin deep+ mud it was hard to get close enough to cast to accurately.
I usually throw a spook jr with a #4 treble on the front and single Gam #1 hook on the back for good results.
Using two singles would not help this fishing condition from hanging up almost immediately if you missed the open spot.
You might have tried a weedless Tex posed worm hook but the better fish were liking top waters and the noise made by the dog walking
The question is what do you think would work to help keep the top water weedless and working on top of the grass to the next pot hole?
