You're safe until you hear the JAWS music... Once the music comes on you're done... It's all over but the crying...

Roger, Lake Como is the lake in the canal system in Pirates before you exit (Lake Como) to get to the bay (West Bay)

After reading all these posts, I suspect there must be a whole boatload of trout and reds at Como and Dana. I wonder who will be fishing there this weekend?

I was at Dana tonight and didn't hardly see any bait action. The water temps were down

Fish will not be in the canals, this front pushed them back to mud / shell mix water temps need to be in mid 70's for a few weeks straight before trout will start moving into sand flats & the shallow summer spots.

I suspect Confederates to be a parking lot for another 2 weeks.

Saw the wake headed towards me yesterday and I HAULED A to the nearest island. Good thing I did as I got a front row seat to the feeding. Definitely a decent sized bull.

Never looked back as I was hightailing it to the nearest island and once safe, turned around and couldnt see the wake. Out of nowhere, about 10 feet in front of me a Michelle Mullet jumps straight out of the water, is blown backward by the wind and lands DTC (dead top center) of the shark. Thrashing ensues and sayounara mullet. Probably about a 5ft shark.

This took place at the finger tip of one of the islands, not 80 yards straight north of the camper parking lot. After initial sight, the shark did loops across from the neighboring island to my little haven and out to dana's multiple times only visible by the wake.
I thought to myself, phew... theres about 30 minutes before the sun goes down, the tide is up pretty good and I'm sure as hell not gonna walk in waist deep water back and around to lake como. Good thing im not far from the main shoreline and all I have to do is walk across a little channel and thats that... back on land.

Decided to look around a little bit for any signs of sharkyness and after some deliberation and hesitation start to take a step into this tiny dip between the island and land (like 10ft point A to B) and midstep... WHAMM THRASH bing bang boom... THAT FING shark was right under me. Now, almost dark, freaked the F out and semi panicking, bust out my KA-BAR fixed blade in one hand and kershaw pocket knife folding knife in the other. The N wind had the grass lines really murky and my headlight didnt help at all.

With a big white heron chillin on one leg, neck all curled up and looking at me like " your an idiot, let me get my cellphone out and video tape this" I was doing the Neil Armstrong moonwalk, clinching my KA-BAR in the reverse edge out knife grip, elbows bent and my eyes on the prize!!

No issues, but glad to make it back. Its a real chitty feeling when your only way back to land is compromised by a bull shark that is always 20 ft away and pops up out of no where.

The cast net and leaders are comin out today.

our canal has been loaded the past two nights, trout and redfish both (i just realized Coe posted this 6 days ago, and the weather has changed since then). I might try to do some bullshark fishing tonight after work, thinkin about heading over behind the state park to drift some bonita strips and other cut-baits.

Dagummit, Sfef! I'd almost forgotten about this. Why'd you have to remind me. Now I'm gonna be paranoid for months!

You guys are in way more danger from stepping on one of the thousands of stingrays in that area.

Some bullshark that is keying in on mullet isn't going to hurt you, no matter how scary it looks.

Ive been hit by stingrays while surfing back home in San Diego... Its painful and makes you bust out the crutches for a while, but bullsharks bite. Its the fact that bait is everywhere in GISP/dana/como and I almost had to kick the damn thing the other day to get it to change course. Plus, I dont mind kicking stingrays as long as they are not doing their love dances in the top water column.

Most definately one of the closest encounters I have ever had with a bull was while scouting west bay. I was riding my jetski along the geotubes a few years back and if I recall correctly I think it was in the Dana/Como area. Got my attention as I just about ran over it in about 2 foot of clear water.
