pattern? the pattern i keep is if your line isnt in the water it wont catch fish....patterns are to be learned by each angler...everyone can make there on trend...some catch fish, some cyber fish, some are just plain crazy.....

Sure there are patterns - if you drink enough beer, you'll see plenty of nice patterns!

But serious, we all know he deal about tides, current, winds, temperatures, and some places are good under certain conditions. I would say I'm more of a "place" fisherman because there are honey holes that consistently produce in a range of conditions, and others that only work on a high tide or fast water.

Daily, I do have a pattern because if it's not windy I start off at dawn with topwaters, then the She Dog Junior, maybe some hard-bodies after that, then some plastic. It's like clockwork almost, a little different in the surf than in the bay (I throw more figs and spoons in the surf). But that's a pattern I guess.

Finally, potlicking IS a form of pattern fishing. Look for two boats and one bird and run up right in between 'em all about 40 MPH, LOL, and you'll find out how nice that "pattern" is, if there's no incoming buckshot.

2 can I sneak offf from work? check =go fish
            3. Do i have enough gas to get me to the ramp? check =go fish
            4. Is there beer in the cooler? Check=go fish
5 will the ol lady get pissed that i am fishing again? check (Well does not matter go any way)= go fish try to catch something so I can cook it up for her when i get back. JK I got the best ol lady in the world

Me and buddy were talking about this very topic this past weekend. He was stating that the reason that he still enjoys bass fishing so much is because success in bass fishing, as opposed to saltwater fishing, is heavily influenced by how well you can pattern fish.

There are patterns in saltwater fishing too but saltwater fishing relies on number of other factors that are impossible to pattern. I tend to follow seasonal patterns, macro-patterns, sucesssfully year in and year out. There are also patterns within patterns, micro-patterns, that develop but they are not always reliable or consistent.

Early spring is the time of year I like to focus on flats close to deep water, e.g. near a channel or pass. I don't spend very much time in the marsh until late spring. I like to fish areas near typical winter haunts that have a least some mud and shell in the area. Main bay shorelines are also usually good areas to key in on this time of year, like the coves in East or West Bay. For lures I usually start with topwaters and if that doesn't entice any bites, I will switch to a tail and try different levels in the water column until I find where the fish are holding.

Sorry, i'm only serious about hardheads and whiting. I gave you my pattern for those two prized fish.

I don't know what else you want.

Hey Red Raider, I WAS serious!! If ya sit in a spot long enough soaking live shrimps, you will catch something-either a beer buzz or fish or BOTH!!
