Things I learned in coaching: burning sensation usually means torn stuff=BAD

See a doc, ice is your friend until then.

One of the problems with X-Ray and other "look inside you" machines is swelling can cause them to be unreliable. Ice will get swelling down and enable the docs to MRI or X-Ray the area more reliably.

Icing rules: Ice for 20 minutes at a time, never more or you can cause tissue damage. Give at LEAST 30 minutes before you ice again. If you are using a towel between the ice bag and your skin, you can go much longer, but it will be less effective IMO.

Disclaimer: I'm just a former coach with a lot of first aid experience. I am not a doctor or a trainer and I don't pretend to be one. I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express.

Coachlaw has some good advice, I've been there too. Since it happen at work, make sure you report it to your supervisor.

You more than likely tore or popped your Menisuscus, which is a fibrocartilage strip surrounding your knee. It will have that burning sensation when you tear it. Had both mine blow out like that back in the day playing ball. It is an easy fix with a scope. If you tore your ACL or MCL you would NOT been able to walk at all, and your knee would have been a balloon within hours. Good luck in your recovery.

I wish you a speedy recovery. I nearly tore a ligament in my leg playing tennis because I was dumb enough to continue on. The doctors told me that if I had continued playing even longer I would have not been able to play ever again. Rest up and again, I wish you a speedy recovery.

ouch and sorry to hear. I agree with the above advice. Had both of my knees worked on. If it is a ACL you can get a Donjay brace and that will help but you will need to go under the knife sooner of later and the rehab is a long bitchy process. Tore my ACL right before a Elk hunt and the doc told me if I had surgey i couldnt go on the hunt. I informed him that I was going on the hunt and do something to make that possible. He gave me a brace and I was able to hunt with it.

I am not sure that would be a good idea on a boucing boat though
