  • Cold-killed Ribbonfish

I was out a few days ago right after that long stretch of chilly weather and N. wind. There were dozens of dead ribbonfish on the shoreline and I saw a few stunned ones in the shallows. The white and brown pelicans, cormorants, and loons were all over the ones out in the water. They were in a pretty confined cove without any deep water around so I guess they couldn't make it. I didn't know there were that many around.

    They were all ~3'

    Saw a little spade too.

Is that the N.Shoreline? Been awhile since I have seen it that low!

No, just a cove on the S. shoreline. Pretty shallow area!

"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Good offshore bait should have scooped them up and frozen for a later date.

No kiddin' that's great offshore or surf & jetty fishing bait.

By the way, skinny water cools off real fast, even here on SPI it went from 65 down to 47 for a while, back up to about 60 today. It is how fast the temp drops that causes cold stunning, since the fish don't have time to hide in the deep channels or get offshore. Seems like your inshore water might be about 50-55 degrees now?

The spades were being torn up over at the channel next to the yaht basin. Dophins where all over that. I must have seen more than the dolphin tour riders while I was out there.
