  • Lost, looking to be found

Howdy, I recently relocated to Missouri City from Austin after being unemployed for a while. I know my way around the Rockport area very well, but have no clue about the GB complex. I have a 22' Pathfinder, but need to take care of some deferred maintenance prior to getting her back on the water.

This weekend I took the boy with me to scout out boat ramps and such, starting at Freeport and working back towards Galveston. Stopped to check out the beach and fish in a couple of places. Had fun, but could'nt even get a nibble. Looks like Chocolate Bay from FM 2004 is our closest destination, just need to find out if it is our best option.

Looking for any pointers and advice... browsing and searching to see what I can find here. In addition, I hope to meet some new people who love the gulf coast and fishing.

    THX

    Bill

Be careful-fishing Chocolate and around San Luis and Christmas is like going north of Rockport-lots of reefs and shallows. Strongly suggest ya get a hooksetter map or hire Aqua Pimp to learn some areas-Capt. Greg Francis-saltwaterassault.net

          Robalo,
Thanks for the warning and advice. I was considering running with someone local or a guide for first time out, as I know all about reefy areas. Dunham, Second chain and the Mesquite bay area is one of my favorites.

          BTW - Love ur signature!

I suggest hiring Capt. Greg as well. Running in the Galveston Bay Complex can get expensive real fast... LMAO You may need to hire him a couple of times to get a good handle on the does & donts of the areas... You wont be sorry its money well spent if your not from the area... JMO

Robalo, '81 was a mighty fine year! Re: ou SUX, guess I should have asked you "What time is it?"
