Long time fisherman new to your site. Grew up on fishing camp off ICW on Chocolate (70s & 80s), live on Clear Lake now and mainly fish East Bay. Recently introduced to surf/wade fishing West-end and Surfside beaches by a buddy and have to say I got the bug.

Conditions for the surf Sat morning (29th) don't look good with Westerly winds and high swell, but I got a old work colleague coming in from Miss. staying in Galveston that wants to fish but doesn't have a big window of time Sat a.m. before his honey do's kick in. He needs to be off the water by 9 or 9:30.

Any ideas of good spots to wade and get on a few? If the surf is a no-go, maybe bayside? It would make his weekend if he could land a few before he has to sight see and other vaca crapola.

Happy to be here and any help would be appreciated.

        Welcome !
If a SW wind , places closer to your East Bay may be more practical like the Texas City Skyline Drive and Dollar Flats as well as the Boliver Pocket , protected in a SW blow .

Love the camp! Did Alicia kill it?

There's nothing like having a camp, but storms can take it all.

Yes sir, you can see where granddaddy had already built a makeshift bulkhead...the cabin stayed intact, but it washed the front stilts out from under it. He was getting up there by then and didn't make a go of rebuilding. Coincidentally, Alicia was 34 years ago today. I miss those days of putting in at Lutes and running out there, how excited I'd get passing the 'Amoco' bend going into the bay, stopping-off at the floating bait camp for shrimp. Hell I'd never even seen a boat launched at a ramp till I was in college! lmao
