The Pope, Lawrence O'Donnell, Bill Maher, Bernie Sanders and myself embrace socialism. Most idiots confuse it with communism, fascism, etc. I've always enjoyed public libraries, public schools, fire departments, city services, and especially now, my social security. The U.S. is full of hypocrites. I'm not one to back abortion, but I will not tell a woman or anyone else what you can do with their bodies. However the punk that went into the church in S. Carolina and took the lives of innocent souls would have been a prime candidate for removal from the womb. Just my opinion.

It's "Socialism" when society helps out people in need, but especially poor people.

It's NOT "Socialism" when society bails out Bankers, and Corporate free-loaders, and Big Oil.

Religion and religious practices are protected by the Constitution. But Civil marriages are for EVERYONE regardless of beliefs or religions.
Abortions have been legal here in the states for over 40 years. Strictly a womans right to do with her health and body like Harvey has said.

As far as the Battle Flag of the Confederate states the last flag that flew over those states was the white flag of surrender.
Brittany Newsome made my heros list yesterday taking it down from the flagpole. And went to jail for doing it!!

Capitalism has been the most successful economic system in history, making the US the most successful country in the world. It's because it was founded on these principles, individual freedom, liberty, and personal property.

The largest socialist country in the world is China, which lacks liberty, freedom, and very limited property.

Socialism seems to work in some European countries with a a very small, mainly homogeneous population. It wouldn't work in those countries if they had to defend themselves.

mgstel, you may be comfortable with killing over a million babies a year, but I'm not. The irony is the democrat party that is the champion of the poor and minorities, is allowing 36% of those abortions each year to be black babies, even though blacks are only 12% of the population.

On abortion.......I thought a person's INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS were the repub mantra! I guess individual freedom to choose your own path in life stops when it interferes with your own moral or religious beliefs. Like it or not, it is a law passed legally. My thought is.......if your are against abortions, don't have one.


As far as us having the most successful economy in the world, that's BS. We have the LARGEST economy in the world.......soon to be overtaken by China, who stays out of ridiculous 3rd world nation-building by military force and concentrates on their economy (but at the expense of their citizens.) As far as the most satisfied citizens go in developed democratic countries, those with more socialist governments have happier citizenry. (as Kenny said-and the following article omits, their people are much less diverse and much more homogeneous.) I believe that if we would keep our noses out of world conflicts that do not affect us fundamentally (ie. Syria, Iran, Yemen, Africa, etc. etc.) and focus on our own needs and economy, we would be a much happier and satisfied country. If a foreign nation then decides to destroy that, squash them like a bug!
