The facts I see are that only 50% or less of Americans even have a 401 or a pension ?So, how can more than 50% of Americans even have the institutional ownership ? Don't make sense to my uneducated arse. Please explain further ?
I have a financial advisor that handles some of my assets and I also have energy stocks. But I also pay him to make me money and if he don't than I'll go elsewhere. Energy stocks or not. But a blind monkey could have been a financial advisor in this economy and made $$ back. Or that's what I tell him when he claims he made me money. I was ready to bail but in 2008 but he said we were in this for the long term so I went with what he said.
Its amazing how Obama has brought the economy backout with 10Million new jobs and the market doubling. But even he is a conservative and still does not like the shape of our economy. I guess mittens would have supposedly done better by letting the automakers go bankrupt. I still dislike Obamas treatment of the banking industry and to me some of those guys should be in the pen.

Mr R's threads always and I mean always get sidetracked.

Sometimes people may not have that opportunity or choice because of making a living and raising a family or taking care of a sick family member or whatever. I don't really believe that anyone would want to stay in a minimum wage job but that might be the only career choice they have. I always give anyone the benefit of the doubt but also believe they deserve to make a decent living when working and making a corporation huge profits for stockholders and then taxpayers having to help with government assistance so they can just get by. last Christmas, Walmart employees were getting SNAP benefits and then also doing food drives for employees that were working with them.
The Walton family should be ashamed.

I have made no reference to a number of Americans who get a pension...my figure is stating a % of ownership...in other words...I am only talking about those who receive a pension. Of all those who receive some pension of some sort...74% of them are owners of Exxon stock. That was my only point...they are ones I giggle at who run down the energy companies and yet take their money...that's all I'm saying. The number gets bigger if you add in anyone who owns mutual funds.

I am a blind monkey I guess LOL

I gotcha now. 74% of the 50% own Exxon. Still lots of americans not in the markets. My advisory account has made great gains since Obama has came in and in fact the gains are getting closer to what a drug lord can make.
I cannot for the life of me why the financial people shy away from the progressive agenda unless they see something in the economy that still aint right.
BTC, I'm sure you have made lots of $$$ for your clients also but I could care less exactly what my advisor wants to get me into to make a buck. He's got me spread out in crap that I absolutely know nothing about. He does lean toward anything that has decent dividends.
I give him all kinds of hell cause he is a poker player and loves to hit Vegas and the casinos across the Sabine but does quite well.Or so says he.

cry me a freakin river. Opportunities are made for those that look for them. Don't make excuses. If someone wants to make some money, get out there and do it, don't expect it. The only ones that should be ashamed are the 35 year olds still flipping burgers. Get the efff outta here with that bullsheet.

MG...Why don't you ask your financial advisor IF he has you in Walmart and Exxon, Shell, BP, Conoco et al.

Would you still be so ashamed of the Waltons and despise Oil Companies enough to sell those stocks that happen to be making YOU a lot of $$$$?

The answer of course would be hypocritical and funny as hail!!!!!!!! It would be a typical democrat/union response like "hey, I think you need obamacare, high taxes, cut in entitlements etc" but not me!

Mr.J, I don't sell unless he suggests I do for security and profits. And no, I don't care what he has me in to make me a profit. That's why I pay him to advise and make me $$.
I don't like my taxes going to stupid unfinanced wars with my tax money either, but tuff sheet for me. I'm American and that's the way it is.
No, I don't like the big oil companies and never have cared for Wallys World. I don't get the tax breaks or the low interest business loans that the corps get either. Tuff sheet for me on that also.
But, yes I will beetch about it all just like you beetch about the stuff you don't like.
Yes, we do do health care, higher corporate taxes or close the loop holes, more entitlements for those in need , and whatever YOU feel is un-American for YOU.

You complain about EVIL Corporations, but you own their stocks because they make money for you. That is called being a HYPOCRITE.

You really stepped into a hole on this MG. You don't like them, but you depend on them for your retirement-and if those so-called 'subsidies' were taken away, you'd be screwed and lose your 'profits'-which is exactly what would happen to ExxonMobil, et al-including yourself, so Obama's attack on "EVIL OIL" is an attack on YOU and most Middle Class US Citizens. I think you may want to rethink your voting in the future-you just voted for lower profits!!

I don't own FUBU Stock-it makes profits but I am against them because they are racists IMO. Maybe you should divest your current portfolio and buy only stocks like FUBU???

That's me, Mr Hypocrite! Sticks and stones and Bans.
I earned my retirement and don't really care where my financial advisor handles my account. I worry about the bottom line. If he wants to invest in cat houses, drugs, communists, or anything else vile and evil like corporations or the GOP party then be my guest. Just make me $$. That's the #1 conservative far right principle. They use it, so can I.
Hope it makes you and all the rest of your conservative friends boil and stew.
Gotta be careful here, conservative friends may be name calling.

You are so right. I consider myself a conservative democrat with progressive principles.
Still hate big business though. Don't matter what they sell or produce.
Give me a mom and pop any day with someone that can say" I built that", course with all our help, and the government, and good union craftsmen, they built that. No one does it on their own. Even Hillary agrees.
