Like ALL the members of this site, we all work hard for our money and we, as Texans, paid a lot in those same hard-earned wages in taxes to the federal government. Refusal to accept some of that money back to help our state and low income citizens and veterans families to get medical treatment is ludicrous....all for political ideology. How about we leave the politics aside and do what's right for our fellow citizens and ALL OF US take credit for a noble cause. As it stands in Texas now, we tax payers are paying TWICE for this care presently...once in taxes to the federal government, and again to treat these citizens from local taxes for hospital and emergency room treatment. This is common sense, fellas. I agree that the federal government shouldn't FORCE people to get insurance......if you don't like the ACA, don't get insurance and let us workers pay for it....AGAIN!

The "catch" is that States take over the mess and States pay for it-the Feds slowly wean off paying and stick it to the States for a FEDERAL PROGRAM.

It's like this: I'll pay ya $20 this year, $10 next year, $5 the next and $0.10 after that and you have to spend $20/year, so the first year is fine, the next, not so good and later you pay almost all for a program that mainly was financed/paid for by the Feds.

As far as not getting insurance under ObamaCare, sure you don't have to, but the SCOTUS said you must pay a tax equal to the greater of the Penalty or 1% of your income-and the fine and friendly folks at the IRS get to collect the tax-and of course some of you will say the IRS cannot foreclose or lien your property, but since my Ex Wife worked for the fine and friendly IRS, in Collections, they know how to easily make your life a living HELL.

So go ahead, don't get insurance and don't worry about the IRS and the Tax. After all, what did Obama say about the ObamaCare:

                1. It is not a tax.
                2. You can keep your doctors.
                3. You can keep your existing insurance.

The truth just keeps coming from Obama all the time-"He is the most Trusted Man in America" so long as his teleprompter is not working or his lips are not moving or his pen is out of ink.

Jerry, forget Obama! This not the topic! We are paying NOW for treatment at hospitals for those without healthcare insurance (talking about Medicare here) and will continue, and continue, and continue with the present system 100% OF THE COSTS!!!!!!. Why don't you guys get this??????? On the ACA, in one form or another has been proposed by EVERY ADMINISTRATION since Truman, and championed by conservatives for decades and most recently by you guys' church (the Heritage Foundation). We all get it....you hate Obama.....you certainly have that right.....but from what I hear about you, you are a very generous and intelligent fellow and I am having a little trouble believing your hatred for everything Obama has not clouded your judgment. I am not trying to start an argument here.....just saying.....

Yep, I hate Obama, his patient dumping wife, his cabinet picks and his socialism/almost communism ideology as well as his use of Marx and Goebbels Propaganda (how insulting to Americans).

I guess I fail to understand why Medicare is a State Issue when it is a Federal Program designed for retirees to have federally assisted medical coverage. The States are subjected to paying in more and more for it under ObamaCare IF the State 'accepts' federal monies. My mother (88 y.o.) is covered by Medicare and her supplemental insurance which of course she pays for and is not having issues as of yet. If you can explain to me in succinct terms why Medicare is in trouble and not because of ObamaCare, then I would certainly like to know that and what can be done; however, if the failure is a cause by ObamaCare, then too bad-get rid of the POS law and start over with something palatable and non-punitive. Ever hear of TAX CREDITS-you know, like for Golf Carts that Obama implemented so now I get to drive 15 mph behind some damn golfcart since the gummint essentially gave em away with a $5000 tax credit I believe-why couldn't they make having insurance a REWARD instead of a damn penalty ENFORCED by the IRS? Purdy dang simple but not for Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Waters or the rest.

I was not one that hated a gummint "assisted" healthcare program; however, ObamaCare is a problem for many reasons (taxation, required coverages-like I need birth control or maternity, the Illegal Alien issue and Gang of 8 Amnesty Program where an Illegal would be hired over a US Citizen due to the penalties to employers regarding providing insurance under ObamaCare, failure to provide incentives for young to sign up-a 'subsidy' means that someone pays for it which means taxpayers so you effectively 'carry' the young for free (except to the taxpayers) that 'qualify' for subsidies, and more). It would have been a much simpler law/approach to provide tax incentives instead of penalties for businesses and people to provide/obtain coverage and simply outlaw "pre-existing conditions exclusions"-the welfare state already is covered by Medicaid, so they're not the issue-and Medicare was supposedly 'unaffected' per Obama's words, so why is this a State Issue? It's easier to tell someone if they do something they get rewarded than it is to say if you don't do what is demanded, you will be taxed-it would have been so easy to make it a reward system but NOOOO we can't do that. WHY? He dug his hole, now we have to dig him (Obama) out which is BS-we should take those folks with "shovel-ready jobs" and bury the SOB like he buried OUR money with Solyndra, GM, Soros, Fast & Furious and ObamaCare. He makes good folks suffer while babying the sheethaids.

One other thing, many of the uninsured are part of the 20,000,000 illegals her ILLEGALLY and they are not required to get Insurance (plus they get to claim whole villages as "dependents" for their taxes under IRS guidelines and rules of the IRC) so we will continue to pay for them and they are part of the reason ERs are clogged since they go there for a cold, flu, hangnail and we pay as required by Law/courts, so we will always have to pay for uninsured. We also pay for the "young" that choose to be subjected to the Penalty will still not have coverage as well as the folks that get insurance but never pay their deductible of $5000-10,000 or whatever it is (and I don't blame them because they could barely afford to get coverage they must have and certainly have no spare monies to pay any deductible), so effectively we pay for them anyway through "subsidy" or failure to pay their "deductible". It is BS that folks think that ObamaCare will "cure" healthcare problems and reduce taxes or costs of healthcare. What program has the gummint ever undertaken that resulted in lower costs? None.

That will be impossible to refute Jerry. Cold, hard FACTS.

And like said earlier, anybody that believes ACA is a good thing, just hang on and see what happens to your wallet. You haven't even come CLOSE to seeing the tip of the iceberg.

The system was far from perfect before the ACA, but now the system will be in turmoil for years to come.....not to mention the IRS is now involved
