I must have missed this thread. We had a fantastic day! We knew the rules and we were clear on them. We had a well thought out game plan and executed it to pinpoint precision.
I jumped in with Keith and followed him around. We quickly landed some trout and then around sunrise I busted a beautiful 24" trout. I switched over from tails to a top water as Keith started getting good blowups. Caught one on a spook jr and was thrilled to have caught my first trout of the year on top water. Back to tails and it was on the rest of the day! At our last stop Jamin nailed a nice Redfish and I followed up with a nice one as well then apparently everyone ran away from me. I wasn't aware, but Keith said a stingray the size of a ford ranger had breached right behind me. I never saw anything... I hooked into another redfish on my walk back to the boat. I sat down for 15 minutes on the boat and was done.
The weigh-in was a different story and just frustrating when you have good fish that don't get credited because of a 19 3/4" redfish being called 20" after 20 times measuring and a team weighed in 30 minutes after the close of weigh in. Hopefully they get these two issues among some others resolved for future tournaments.
It was a fun day on the water and regardless of the outcome we were on the fish all day and what matter is that I had a kick arse time with some good friends that I would have never had met if it hadn't been for FishWestEnd!
