  • Trophy Trout.....

So winter is upon on us and we are all getting ready to go and grind it out for that once in a lifetime catch. So what are some of the spots where people have had luck hunting for big winter trout? Not looking for "honey holes" just general info, thanks.

People who target these lifetime catches have spent a lot of hard work and time on the water doing there homework looking for these spots and learning these spots/areas. Most of the die hard big Trout guys I know are not gonna just throw this info out over the inet for the whole world to see. I know I wont and cant.

Look for areas with mud, mud mixed with shell, or shell reefs near by on a mud flat or channel. . I prefer areas with off colored water and always always keep an eye out for Mullet in the area..... Big shell reefs located next to deep water channel or drop offs can be good.

Deep water access for after cold fronts....shallow mud when the suns out espec. post front.

Deep water access and mud both even better.

              Google earth is your friend.

Don't be fooled by people who give out lots of spots because the fun is in finding your own spots and your hard work paying off.

If you saved up a million dollars and it took you a lifetime and I gave you a million dollars, which million would you start to spend first (I'd spend both lmao)? Exactly. People value what they work for and I promise you that the big trout at the end of the tunnel you are after will feel much more rewarding and a lot less empty if it's been caught from the work you've done.

I set my hook like I am fishing for tuna even if I am fishing for trout. Call me tuna Joe!

On the edge of a deep channel on a low winter tide when the weather is not fit for man or beast and you get out of that warm bed and no one else did,is when it can happen .
