Water was in good shape and hopefully will be better tomorrow. I caught 3 on tops and then threw plastics with not much action. Switched to silver spoon and they started slamming it. Caught about 20 trout and kept 2 17" and 19". Most were 14-15 1/2" Saw lots of BIG sharks out on the color change. I started at the watertower and the closest guy was 200 yds away when I started at dark. There were guys on either side about 50 yds away and I was thinking they were way too close. Next thing I know two more guys move in to within 20 yds on either side. I was like you got to be kidding me. At 7:30 I picked up and moved and caught more fish on freeport side of pass.

        Freeport

Where would you walk in on Freeport side?
        Thanks

You can walk right in to the pass on the Freeport side between the bridge and the site of the now demolished SLP Pier. This area can be very good this time of year on an outgoing tide (gold spoons always work well for me in this spot in May and early June)

Good job on finding the lure they liked. I have a lot of success on spoons in the surf.

I moved further down and was actually between freeport and the pass. Just drive the beach till you see a fishy area. Thinking about heading back out tomorrow before the real crowded show up this weekend.

I think sometimes people fish close in the surf because they feel safer.....

I have just posted to hammer that he should try a spoon and now read your report! Nice job at catching those fish. As the beachfront gets better its going to get packed and when you head out early your going to find when the sun comes up your not alone!

With those spoons the spanish macks will tear up some equipment!

                      Great report!

Great report......I usually carry nothing but tops and a few mirrolures/plastics for the surf. I guess I should get a few silver spoons.

the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

When the Spainards are around, have a wire leader handy to tie on or they'll bite off your lure almost everytime.
